At my work we have a small machine shop. our process is as parts are needed our mechanical engineer creates a Manufacturing order and clicks "Start Production" as soon as he hands it to the machinist.

now being a machine shop they know sometimes to make 1 extra part in case a tap breaks, or something happens.

so %50 of the time when a manufacturing order was put in for 20 parts the machinist might hand back 21, or 22.

now the way we have been dealing with this is cancel the picking, then cancel the manufacturing order. then create a new manufacturing order for the 22 parts. click start, and done.......

that seems like a lot of extra steps.

any one have feedback on an easy way around this problem. Because I want to get into the method of using "Work Centrers" to trigger the machinists to make parts.. but I don't want to have to cancel out what they made to change the qty.

look forward to hearing back
