In Odoo, managing Bill of Materials (BoM) within quotations and sales orders requires understanding the functionality of different BoM types:​

1. Kit BoM:

A Kit BoM allows the components of a product to be listed individually in sales documents:​

• Configuration:
  • Set the BoM Type to Kit.​
  • When this product is added to a quotation or sales order, Odoo automatically explodes the BoM, listing each component as a separate line item.​

2. Manufacture This Product BoM:

This BoM type is used for products that are manufactured:​

• Configuration:
  • Set the BoM Type to Manufacture This Product.​
  • In sales documents, the product appears as a single line item without BoM explosion.​

Implementation Steps:

• Creating a Kit BoM:
  • Navigate to the Manufacturing app.​
  • Go to Products > Bills of Materials > Create.​
  • Select the product and set the BoM Type to Kit.​
  • Add the necessary components under the Components tab.
• Using Kit BoM in Quotations and Sales Orders:
  • When the product is added to a quotation or sales order, Odoo will list each component as a separate line item, effectively exploding the BoM.​
