I have a product that consists of 3 manufacturing layers:

  1. Powder portion
  2. Capsule
  3. Final product

The Bills of Materials are configured so that when the final product is sold, all three manufacturing processes are triggered. All products have MTO and their correspondin Manufacture route.

The issue arises when there is partial manufacturing in the second step.

Example:

  • 1,000 powder portions were produced.
  • But the operators were only able to produce 900 capsules even though all the powder was consumed

Expected behavior:

When confirming the manufacturing of 900 capsules, I accept the creation of a back order for the remaining 100 capsules. This order for 100 capsules should trigger a manufacturing order for 100 powder portions, since this is within in its BoM.

Actual behavior:

When confirming the manufacturing of 900 capsules, I accept the creation of the back order for 100 capsules, but this does not trigger the child manufacturing of the powder.

Hi,

Default odoo behaviour: If 1 unit of capsule consumes 1 unit of powder in your case, then the 100 powders required for the backorder will be reserved from the 1000 powders you added to the main manufacturing order. So, no additional MO is required.

Hope it helps

Hi,
Thank you for the reply.
I understand this would be deafult behaviour, but even though I manufactures 1,000 powders in the first MO, in the second MO I consumed all the 1,000 powders but only manufactured 900 capsules. Hence, I create a backorder for the 100 capsules. Is the source location for this MO, there are no powder portions left, and the stock for powders shows negative -100. Shouldn´t it be triggering the child MO for the 100 powders? Is there a way to achieve it?

Set a replenishment rule for the product (powder in your case) with trigger auto and route Manufacture.

Inventory > operations > replenishment

Hi, thank you for the reply.
I´ve been testing this out and it is certainly a potential solution. However, the ideal scenario is that the MO triggered to produce the powder is directly linked to the original group of MOs which are linked to the SO.
I know I can add a custom field (maybe "tag" type) where the user can specify for which MO a specific replenishment order is being used for.
