Damian Bürgin is a 35-year-old professional who studied Supply Chain Management at the University of Bern in Switzerland and Maastricht in the Netherlands. He has been working as an Odoo project manager and consultant at braintec for almost four years. Braintec is an Odoo gold partner and a three-time winner of the Best Odoo Partner EMEA award.
During his time at braintec, Damian has been responsible for managing various medium and large-sized projects. While his main focus is accounting, he has also provided consultation for Sales, Purchase, Inventory, and HR work streams. Additionally, Damian managed a project to develop a fully customized Odoo module for processing applications related to renewable energy subsidies.
This presentation will outline strategies for successfully rolling out global Odoo implementations for multinational corporations. braintec, an Odoo gold partner with a presence in several countries, has managed numerous global rollouts for international customers in the US, Europe, and Asia. Through this experience, braintec has developed a framework that provides clear guidelines for managing international rollouts.
In summary, the framework involves developing a generic template that includes the modules and configurations that should be standardized globally. Next, the extent of country-specific developments must be determined, as this is crucial in defining the database rollout strategy. If the degree of country-specific customizations is low, the Odoo multi-company approach should be followed with one database containing different country localizations installed per company. If the degree of customizations is high, it is recommended to have several databases in place, with the template installed and deployed across all systems.
Furthermore, I will share our experiences working with local Odoo partners and Odoo itself, which is an important aspect of the rollout strategy. Additionally, I will provide other do's and don'ts recommendations for international rollouts.
