This seems like a simple question but I have not been able to get the result I am looking for. I am track the parts and labour of a complicated assembly with many sub assemblies. I want to see which sub assembly was more/less expensive than when we previously built the exact same thing.

Since I can't export a top level cost break down from a large assembly my approach is to expand the entire traceability report from the top level (this will show me the work orders each component was built under) and then export another list of all our closed work orders and their corresponding costs. Match them up in excel and then I will be able to compare different builds.

My current struggle is to figure out the best way to export the MO cost shown on the overview report. I tried a previously suggested approach of adding the unit price to the stock moves window but for some reason the numbers on the stock moves list does not match the numbers seen on the overview report or cost analysis report.

Hi Rob,

check "Production Analysis" Report in Pivot-view. Maybe that would be enough? Besides, you can export it to the spreadsheet in Odoo, too.

I hope it helped.

Hi Darshan,

In theory this sounds like exactly what I need to do. However, I don't see the ability to export the cost analysis report. If I select the check box in MO list view, and go to Actions - I don't see anything for cost analysis. If I open up the MO and then select the cost analysis button at the top of the screen I only have the option to print to PDF but no option to export a .csv. Am I missing something?

Hello Rob,

To efficiently export the manufacturing order (MO) costs from the overview report in Odoo, you can follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Manufacturing Module: Go to the Manufacturing module in your Odoo instance.
  2. Access the Manufacturing Orders: Navigate to the list of manufacturing orders and select the specific manufacturing order you want to track costs for.
  3. Generate a Cost Analysis Report: From the specific manufacturing order, generate a cost analysis report that includes all the costs associated with the assembly. This report will provide you with a breakdown of costs for parts, labor, and any other expenses.
  4. Export the Cost Analysis Report: Export the cost analysis report to a format compatible with Excel (e.g., CSV) so that you can manipulate and analyze the data in Excel.
  5. Export Closed Work Orders and Costs: Export a list of all closed work orders and their corresponding costs from Odoo. This data should include the costs associated with previous builds of the same assembly.
  6. Match and Compare in Excel: Import both the cost analysis report and the exported data of closed work orders into Excel. Match the costs of each subassembly or component from the cost analysis report with the costs from previous builds. You can then calculate the differences to determine which subassemblies were more or less expensive in comparison to previous builds.

Ensure that you accurately capture and align the costs and data from the cost analysis report and the exported closed work order data for a comprehensive comparison.

If you encounter discrepancies between the numbers in the stock moves list and the overview report, consider reviewing the configurations and settings related to costing methods and stock valuations in Odoo to ensure consistency in cost calculations.
