Hello,

In OpenERP 7, is it possible to procure an item in one unit of measure, then consume it in a BoM in a different unit of a different category?

For example, we buy drums of liquid in units (1 barrel or 55 gallons), then use some of that liquid in a build, but measured out in weight (10 lbs). The conversion from liquid volume (or units such as drums) to weight will be different for every item—i.e., water weights a different amount per gallon than liquid sugar or food coloring.

Is such a conversion across unit categories possible for many different items / item builds?

Thanks.

Hi;

For the first part of your question , Yes it's possible to change the Unit of Sale to a unit other than the Unit of Measure for a given product, to do that, in the product view form open the Tab sales, and here you can find the field Unit of Measure --> UOS Coeff where you can fill the conversion Coefficient (uos_coeff).

And the result is: uos = uom * uos_coeff

For the second part of the question, I have no idea about the conversion between categories.
