Trying to upgrade from Odoo 14 to 16.

I have a module that is not compatible for 16, yet not needed.  So I am trying to uninstall it before upgrading.

But try as I might during the upgrade the module persists.  And errors occur.

I've recently been told (I think incorrectly) that a custom module requires an upgrade, and can never be uninstalled.

Is there a way to remove custom modules before upgrade?  If so what is the proper way to do it?

Here is a video of the issue.  https://photos.app.goo.gl/p7bBeECqddsMV62DA

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi,

During the upgrade process, Odoo is taking database copy from the production db to the migration platform, so first you have to uninstall the module from the production if you don't want it in the migrated version.

Or you can keep the module as it in the branch and once the db is migrated, you can uninstall it from there and then you can remove it from the repository.

Thanks

That makes a little more sense. This was unexpected and undesired since I did the upgrade process through the staging server.

Thank you for your quick response.

I ended up using the old upgrade service on the staging servers database.
