I want to access my documents through ftp account.

When i edit a document within ftp account, will it update in openerp database document management system?

Can we maintain an old copy of the document?

Or when we updated a document through openerp interface,did we get an old copy any where in openerp database or in any file store?

I'm using both windows & ubuntu.
