Configuration help, please.

I want to configure Product 1 as MTO with no lead time & drawdown on 2 manufactured stored products within the same warehouse if the stock is available only.

Products 2 & 3 have their own BOM & reorder rules. All 3 products are available for sale.

We cant store Product 1 due to its size, weight & space available.

So when an order is placed we draw from Product 2 & 3


PRODUCT INFO

Product 1 - Board Set [Made to Order]

Product 2 - Board Single [Stored Product]

Product 3 - Handle [Stored Product]


BILL OF MATERIALS: Product 1

2 x Product 2    [Manufactured Part]

3 x Product 3    [Manufactured Part]

Few options to configure this, you might need to choose based on your current practice and relevance related to your delivery process.

Option 1 - Product 1 as storable product with MTO (Odoo default, you would need to unarchive from Inventory > configuration > Routes) 

Rule 1 - Pull from stock location to customer location, Take from stock, if unavailable trigger another rule.
Rule 2 - Pull from Production to stock using Manufacturing Operation

On customer order a MO is generated as you wouldn't have in stock, on completion of MO the product is available in stock to ship using delivery order

Option 2 - create a new route defaulting manufacturing
Pull from
Operation Type - Manufacturing
Source Location - Partner Location/ customer
Destination Location - Virtual Location/ Production

This would ship directly from manufacturing, no delivery order would be generated

Option 3 - product 1 as KIT (BOM) : On sale confirmation, delivery order would have product 2 & product 3. This would trigger delivery order in-lieu of Manufacturing order

Configure A BOM for product 1 and add product 2 and 3 in the lines. For your finished product select route of manufacturing in product model and for product 2 and 3 you can check MTO alongwith manufacturing or BUY, whatever you like as BUY will automatically add a PO and manufacturing will make a sub bom. First get stock of product 2 and 3 in and validate finished good later.

This wouldn't trigger a MO for product 1 on a sale order, but it certainly ensure the subsequent supply method for product 2 & 3 are triggered
