I've searched all around, but I've only found the Outlook plugin that seems to be available only with odoo.com instances.
Is there a way for Odoo self hosted to check an email account (POP3 or IMAP) and create leads based on new emails?
If that's not possible, is there a workaround with APIs or ...whatever else?

I'll answer to myself, it's possible.
The problem was that I was not in developer mode. But...DEVELOPER MODE??? those are not developers options, almost all of them! Those are administrator settings!!!
EDIT: ADMIN should be aware of how system works !!
