We have two options in this case, however we have to be aware that no option is perfect and both have limitations and risks !

The first option would be to put all your products as services or consumables, and then change the product type for the Inventory Go Live → not advised. 

• PROS

• You don’t have to pay attention to the stock

• RISKS/ATTENTION POINTS

• Impossible to track by lot or serial number

• Impossible to activate routes for services

• Impossible to create a manufacturing order for services

• Product moves have to be either in Done stage or unreserved when you modify the product type

• Product type has to be modified by import to avoid the warning

The second option is to put the quantity of all of your products to a high number such as 1000 or 10 000 while waiting to change the current stock for each product → the easiest option. 

• PROS

• You can add products to the stock little by little, by just modifying the stock quantity from 1000/10000 to the actual one.

• Your products will already be properly configured and you won’t have to change its type

• RISKS/ATTENTION POINTS

• Perturbation of Inventory Valuation: not possible to delete it and the value will stay, only option is to set the cost of the product to 0€ while waiting for the stock update, and at that moment update the cost at the same time as the quantity. 

• Impossible to do automatic inventory valuation

• Impossible to use the landed costs feature (automatic inventory valuation needed)

• If a product is tracked by lot, you cannot just update the quantity, you have to set it to 0, and then create new inventory lines with the lots and the correct quantity
