Odoo offer a free domain name through Gandi, for example: mywebsiteDOTcom

How do you configure your database so that you can do the following:


* Create a new email address, e.g. meATmywebsiteDOTcom

* Send mail from: meATmywebsiteDOTcom    to: meATmywebsiteDOTcom (rather than to and from the email you used to create the database/account)


There is some documentation, but the steps are not clearly explained. To begin, you go into settings, scroll to the bottom, activate developer mode, save. Then go into technical at the top, scroll down and you can see incoming/outgoing mail server links. However, what do you do next?

Hello, currently you have two main options:

- Opt for a third-party email service like Google Workspace to create mailboxes at mywebsiteDOTcom. To do this, you will need to link your domain to the email service by creating specific DNS records, usually MX and TXT records. You can create the required records on the Odoo.com portal.

Once the mailboxes are created, you can connect them as outgoing and/or incoming email servers in Odoo. For incoming emails, you can also use email forwarding to the default odoo.com aliases.

- The other option is to create a subdomain mailDOTmywebsiteDOTcom that you use as the email alias domain for the database. This allows you to create and update records in Odoo from emails received on your aliases at mailDOTmywebsiteDOTcom. The advantage of this option over the first one is that it does not require creating an account or purchasing a subscription with a third-party email service. You just need to create a CNAME record for mailDOTmywebsiteDOTcom with the value dbnameDOTodooDOTcom.
