Hello there :)

we have set up the appropriate taxes on products and the matching is done in each fiscal position, but in the following case it does not seam to work:

We are located in Germany and we have an order from a customer in Switzerland, but the delivery address is located in German as well. Therefore the regular VAT should apply, but Odoo acted as if the delivery address were in Switzerland itself and set it to tax free export.

Is there a setting that Odoo should use the autodetection of fiscal positions based on the country of the delivery address instead of the invoice address? Or am I doing something else wrong here?

We are using Odoo 14 Enterprise, btw.

Hello,

In our case "as you explained"

you have customer with default address on contact form "Switherland" and another address "delivery address"in Germany -> therefore when you create Sales order choose customer contact with "delivery Germany"

as you can see it applies the default VAT in my case

Note: I have set fisical position for auto detect Switherland partners -> it will work if  i set "Swith Customer" on the Sales order

Note : Customer is the other address contact form on the Original contact form

Hope this will help.

Hi Alouna :) Thank you! Does that mean Odoo really considers the country of the customer and not the one of the delivery address? I cannot imagine, that this is true!
I mean, I can see that it seems to work for you, but isn't that fundamentally wrong, as the destination country determines the tax rate?

Fiscal position takes into consideration the country field on contact form -> here you have original company contact form with Switherland value and second related contact form with type delivery address and country field value Germany.
When creating SO you choose the second contact "Germany" -> based on that the fiscal position will calculate taxes for Germany.

You are absolutely right. To be honest, I think I've just got confused on how it works. It actually does work correctly. Thank you very much, to get some clarity and have a nice day, Alouna :)
