difference between discount and global discount

Hi, what is the difference between discount and global discount ? Please explain me.

Hello
Discount means you give discount on each sale order/purchase order/invoices  lines. (this is odoo provide by default.)
while Global discount means you give the discount on the orders/invoices total amount.
Correct me if i am wrong.

Discount is like you can give different % on each and every product on order. Like for product A 5%, Product B 10 in order line.
Global discount will apply on total amount of your order.

How can it be achieved, that discounts on order lines (e.g. in POS module) generate journal entries with bookings to a discount account like global discounts?
