What are you trying to import? 

I have not found any templates.

What I do when I need to import data is manually configure 1 of the items myself. I then export that one item and all its data that I am wanting to import. Then you can fill in the columns (in excel) with your other product data and import them back into Odoo to create new records.  *If you import a row of data that includes an "external_id" it will just update that record rather than create a new one. 

This is not a perfect solution as you have to play with your excel document to get it to import correctly, but with a little practice it has worked for me. Hope this helps.
