Many2one field showing “school.class,8” instead of custom name_get — model loaded but name_get ignored (Odoo 17)

Hello Odoo Community,
I am developing a custom module (*School Fee Management*) in *Odoo 17*, and I have an unusual issue with a Many2one field not using the name_get() method.
*Problem* When selecting a class in the student form, the dropdown shows:
school.class,8
school.class,9
Instead of my expected names:
LKG - A
UKG - A

In Odoo 17, * name_get * () is deprecated. Use * _compute_display_name * () instead.

Ensure Your Model Has a Name Field. Odoo requires a main display field.
Example:
class SchoolClass(models.Model):     _name = 'school.class'     _description = 'School Class'     _rec_name = 'name'
name = fields.Char(string='Class Name', required=True)     section = fields.Char(string='Section')
