Depends on what do you mean by saying "full module project" - you will not be able to change methods in project.task, project.issue, project.phase and so on - that models need to be inherited as well if you want to change them.

You don't inherit a module.  You can create a new module that depends on existing modules and by doing so, you can inherit models and views from the existing module.
