How to attach a file to a task?

Question

A colleague likes to attach a file (e.g. an office document) to a project task.
Is this possible?
If so, how?
If not, is there an alternative?

Install the module document  then a new menu for attachments will be displayed in all forms.

Thanks to you both! "document" a.k.a. "Document Management System" does the job.
