Hi folks,

I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I'm running Odoo v.15 (I know, I know; we're working on upgrading).

I tried typing "archived" on the main menu screen and looked at the many things that came back, including "User Settings" which contained the full list of users, including the one I was after, but wasn't what I was after.

I didn't find anything in this forum either, so I hope I'm not being redundant.

In any case, if you can help me, I'd be much obliged!  The whole "archive" concept in Odoo is very mysterious to me.  It seems like more of a black hole than something one can recover.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks very much!  I'm actually a little embarrassed to say this, but shortly after I posted this question, I found the "Unarchive" in the Actions.  But hopefully this helps someone down the road!  I very much appreciate you taking the time to answer!

Cheers!

Hi,

In Odoo (including v15), archiving is not the same as deleting. When you archive a record (users, products, customers, vendors, etc.), it just sets its active field to False, which hides it from all standard menus, searches, and filters. The record and all its history are still there in the database.

Once you find your archived record, just click “Unarchive” (or “Action → Unarchive” in list view). That will set active = True again and bring it back to menus and searches.

In short: archived records in Odoo aren’t gone — they’re just hidden. Use the Archived filter to see them, and then Unarchive to restore.

Hope it helps
