Hi everybody,

I'm setting up a little business and I struggle to understand the first steps to get Odoo working.

I downloaded the community edition on my computer (linux Mint) but don't know what to do with it.

The "start now - it's free" button on Odoo web page seems to activate a free trial for applications of the Entreprise edition, not the community edition.

Also confusing to me is the fact that if I select Manufacturing in the pricing page, Inventory is selected automatically and it says that I can use both for free. But when I actually start under the "start now" button, it's free only if I use one of them, either Manufacturing, either Inventory.

In fact, I don't quite understand how those things relate to each other.

Before anything, I'd like to set up an instance of the community edition to see how it works.

Thanks for replying. Actually, I've already installed Odoo and it seems to be activated. I just don't know where to go to run it. Where do I start? Do I need to open the browser and enter an address in the address bar?

And is it possible to run the Community edition through the "Start now" button on Odoo web page?

Thank you Jaideep; this really helps. That's the kind of basics you lose a lot of time trying to understand because it isn't explained anywhere.

Hi,

To install odoo on your linux machine, the simplest way is to run this installation scrypt: https://github.com/Yenthe666/InstallScript

Thanks

Hehe, I see my script is still going around. Thanks for sharing ;)

@Yenthe, this script is a legend!

http://localhost:8069/ on the web browser

"Start now" on Odoo web page would create a cloud hosted enterprise DB and not Community edition
