Stampida Decoration Systems is a company dedicated to the manufacture of custom-made machinery for the automotive, household appliance, and cosmetics industries. They are also distributors of Teca-Print pad printing machines, RUCO inks, Katana thermal transfer film, etc.

The merger of two companies

The company was born from the merger of two companies: Grabados Andrés SL and Teca-Print Ibérica. This merger also gave rise to the need to change the ERP they used for management, so this merger took place with the help of Odoo.

On the one hand, Grabados Andrés SL specialized in thermal printing systems, CAD/CAM design and manufacturing of precision tools and machining, and on the other hand, Teca-Print Ibérica specialized in the manufacture and marketing of equipment for pad printing and screen printing decoration. 

Each company had its own management software, but they found themselves in need of a system capable of integrating both requirements. Not only that, but it also had to serve to coordinate the union of both teams.

For all these reasons, they needed an ERP that could manage all logistics, including inventory, purchasing, sales, and manufacturing, as well as services with project management. Added to this was the need for software that was available online, multi-platform, and cost-effective.

With these requirements in mind, they began their search for solutions such as Oracle, Netsuite, and Microsoft Dynamics 365. Later, they also explored the options offered by Holded and NextERP. However, they finally decided on Odoo because the previous options lacked depth in manufacturing aspects and user support.

With the decision made, they began to consider how the implementation would be carried out, as it was not only a matter of implementing a new operating system, but also of merging two companies at the same time.

Merging and implementing

The first step was to decide who to implement with, whether an official Odoo Partner or an internal Odoo consultant. After weighing up the options, they finally decided to work with Odoo directly. This meant starting from scratch, explaining the company's needs to someone who was unfamiliar with its processes and operations.

Even though they had to explain the processes from the beginning, it was a very rewarding experience, as they were able to get an outside opinion on their current processes. With the merger taking place, they were going to have to make many changes to the way they worked, so an outside consultant who did not have the baggage of having worked with them for years would be able to provide an objective point of view and bring new ideas.

The first part of the implementation process was dedicated to jointly planning the phases of Odoo implementation. With all the planning done and a target date set, the Kick Off was held and implementation began.

Following the phased implementation led by the Odoo consultant, within a month the company was already operating almost 100% with Odoo. Once the solution was implemented and the work was underway, the processes were fine-tuned.

Stampida Decoration Systems emphasizes that, considering the number of applications they had to implement, together with the merger of the two companies, the speed and ease of implementation made the whole process much simpler than expected.

The implementation did not encounter any major technical obstacles. As in many companies that have been working in the same way for years, changing software is not just a new tool but a change in the way they operate. This usually takes time for employees to understand and get used to the new processes, but with training from the Business Analyst, the barrier was overcome and the change was made successfully.

One of the main advantages that Odoo has brought them is the elimination of all the tools that were not connected to each other. So many databases, scattered files, different management programs, and so on were all replaced by Odoo. This has given them integrated control in a single tool for all their processes. They now have greater control and monitoring of their orders and projects.

In addition, thanks to access to all Odoo applications, they have been able to comply with the Time Control Law with the Attendance application, which records employee clocking in and out and allows instant updates of reports.
