Re: [Promotion] Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals - 50% Off On All Odoo Themes

Actually I do have mail filters, which is why I replied the way that I did.
The email got taken out of the folder where my community mail goes, because it was superceded by a rule that detects promotional emails. That's why I didn't notice it was from community.
As I already said, whilst I don't believe its quite right for the community list to be used as a corporate marketing resource; I would not normally have been bothered enough by it to make any comment.

However, what I do absolutely have an issue with is companies data-mining the email addresses in the community list and using it to populate their marketing systems in order to send direct solicitations for Odoo related business.
Yes I could write some filters to block them, but I also have an ideological issue with that sort of thing, so if I see those types of mails come to my inbox the sender is most definitely going to hear about it and feel my wrath.

I have already had this sort of thing happen (NOT by 73lines) where the only possible way these said companies could have gotten my email is from this list.

Again for the benefit of 73lines, they did not do this, and my original comments toward them should be discarded.
Please anyone who reads do not use my comments in any way as a negative reflection toward them.

Great Idea Fabien, but please then enforce also that those long company and developer footers get removed which are actually nothing else then advertisements ;-)

@Jesse - You can't actually enforce the sending of those mails to the Odoo Mailinglist as even mails I have send in the past private to people from the list showed up suddenly on the mailinglist because those people multiplied the message to the list. So to avoid all this you should better use a proper filter in your mail program.

Usually, people are not reading the mail headers at all and also usually people are replying to the mailinglist via their normal email address.

So if a mail gets in with a specific mailinglist header which did not get changed from the original Mailinglist header - what is usually also the case, - then this mail gets sorted in your mailbox like a normal mail from the mailinglist and you won't see even the difference.

Companies are already using this as a great way to market their services as we get lots of mails this way!
On the other site marketers could use this way also to market of course their products.

Simply reply to an email and send it only to a specific person from the mailinglist where you know that he is subscribed and usually not reading the mail headers (normal case) and who likes to respond (as you see you responded even immediately so you would be for example an ideal target for those marketers)

The only way actually to avoid that would be to not only strip the footers from the mailinglist posts but also enforce everybody to only reply via a form in the forum. Here you can simply monitor what is going on and people can only reply via the forum.

I thought actually that all those rules have already been enforced. Sad that they aren't - it is  Rules or guidelines which don't get enforced are simply useless.

We agree with Jesse, this list should not be used to send commercial ads. It's against the
code of conduct we proposed and that will be enforced soon:

(see art 5.2)

Since you've made a thing of it, honestly I personally don't believe that commercial adds belong on the community mailing list at all.
It's effectively a way to send unsolicited commercial mail to everyone on the list without the ability to have any unsubscribe feature.

That's personal opinion and I wouldn't normally make any comment about it at all.
The email I sent was because I made a mistake and thought the email that was sent had been sent to me directly.

What's that Jesse

Why not using a second thought first as things which get said here get distributed all over and harm not only your business with such announcements but also the one of others, for example those who use the templates you condemmed which are actually good templates. As Odoo seem to have blocked 73 Lines products on their store I think this news is great news for everybody who like their templates. I wished their were much more black friday offers also from products we are using but unfortunately nada.

Kind regards

I apologize wholeheartedly

This email appeared in a place where emails directed to me directly normally show up (ie not via the community list)

Please ignore everything I said.
I have not done any of the reporting I mentioned and will not do so.

I've dealt with a lot of unsolicited spam in the past. Can you tell? Haha

Again sorry.

Because of this email, I will now never do any business with 73lines or recommend them to anyone.

In fact I will recommend that everyone avoid your company all together.

I assume your unsubscribe link will not work since you obviously brazenly steal email addresses from the community mailing list.

I have reported this as spam to all lists I can find and will now block your domain.
