Hi Ray,

I'd simply create a location (e.g. "WH/Demo Units") outside of the root of the warehouse stock location (e.g. "WH/Stock") if your focus is more to avoid reserving the demo units.

However, the product quantity calculation still includes this new location, so I guess you'd have to manipulate this method https://github.com/odoo/odoo/blob/b7c7591bfba41eba5be43ec490d6da9a2c7368fe/addons/stock/models/product.py#L210-L239 if you need to have those product quantity fields right.  I personally don't think the current design is much of an issue, though, although it'd still be nice if Odoo had a built-in functionality to handle this through location settings.

Hi everyone,

V10.

I have a need to support a location that hold stock, but this stock is not considered ‘sellable’ or ‘in stock’ (quantity on hand/forecasted/available calculations)

BUSINESS BACKGROUND:  “We have demo units in stock.  We want to keep track of them, but we can’t sell them.  We don’t want separate item codes for them”.

How are people handling this?

Ray.
