What Changed?

• Previously: “Apply on variants” in BOM allowed only attributes that create variants (Instantly or Dynamically).
• Now: You can select any attribute, including those with variant creation set to “Never”.
• This lets you add those “never” attributes explicitly to BOM lines — improving clarity for your shop floor.

“Never” attributes don’t create variants, so your MTO and replenishment logic still works as before.

They add extra info on BOM lines, helping operators understand options that don’t affect stock or variants.

The default “custom description” field was confusing and poorly formatted — this new approach fixes that.

What You Should Do

Test Your BOMs:

• Create BOMs with “never” attributes selected.
• Confirm they appear correctly on BOM lines and on manufacturing orders.

Verify Replenishment Logic:

• Check that MTO and manual replenishment still recognize and order correct variant products.
• Confirm “never” attributes don’t trigger unwanted variants or replenishment.

Improve BOM and MO Display:

• Customize BOM line views or manufacturing order reports if needed to clearly show “never” attribute selections.
• Avoid reliance on the “custom description” field — use explicit attribute displays.

Train Users:

• Make sure shop floor and sales teams understand that “never” attributes are descriptive options only, not actual variants.
