PJ has been working with the Precision GPS sector for 14 years primarily serving the Agriculture, Marine, Surveying and Construction markets.
Having worked all across Europe and the United States to assist enterprise level business' implement this technology it is now his focus to bring these solutions to startups and small to medium size business greatly increasing efficiency, reducing cost and building a greater user experience.
GPS in its standard form, that most of us use on a day to day basis, is accurate to roughly 3 metres (16 feet), with augmentation practices we can increase this accuracy from 30cm to 1cm depending on the hardware and investment that we are willing to make.
Until recently precision GPS has only been available for very high value applications such as engineering, surveying, shipping and agriculture. This was due to the high cost of the equipment and the difficulty of application. Now with new technology this precision is available to all applications from vehicles to wearables.
Why implement precision GPS for your devices? A great example of where precision is a game changer is the last mile delivery sector, covering everything from Uber to DHL deliveries. Uber alone makes 17.5 million journeys a day with 5% of these deliveries/pickups failing. That’s 875,000 times every day a driver has to take extra time to make a pickup or delivery because of inaccurate location information. Even if this is only 1 minute per journey that’s hundreds of days in lost time and cost. Precision GPS can’t stop all of these failed journeys, however reducing by 50% would save millions of dollars every year.
Another area of success for precision GPS is in wearable technology for Health and Safety. In the rail sector in the UK there are 50,000 workers who need to work near live railway lines. With a wearable precision GPS device they are able to get instant alerts if they move to close to an operating train line, improving situational awareness and saving lives.
The opportunity is now that to bring this technology to a huge number of B2B and B2C products and services greatly improving services for the customer and increasing efficiency for the operators.
