Julien Deuse, who holds a master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Liege and a master's degree in management from the University of Leuven, founded Deuse, our Software engineering company, in 2016 with his twin brother Maxime. Since the launch of their business, Julien has worked on many different projects, including Odoo integrations and customizations for both start-ups and large groups such as Elia. His Odoo expertise and business management skills allow him to efficiently determine the Odoo solution best suited to a client's needs.

Thibaut Chavet graduated from the University of Liège with a master's degree in civil engineering in computer science and joined Deuse in March 2020. Since his arrival, he has had the opportunity to work on all types of projects: web and mobile applications, management software, customized e-commerce as well as Odoo integrations and customizations. His many skills allow him to develop very specific Odoo customizations and to be able to meet our clients' needs with the best possible solution.

In this presentation, we will explain, through a case study of a consultancy, how to easily interface a Flutter mobile application with Odoo to help companies and their field staff.

Some companies have specific needs for their field staff, which do not always fit with Odoo. Indeed, field staff cannot always access computers and sometimes needs particular functionalities such as geolocation, signature system, photo/video/audio recordings, etc. In this case, the Odoo mobile application might not always be sufficiently adapted for the field. It would be necessary to create new modules, but they might not meet all the customer's expectations. A better solution is to develop a mobile application and interface it with Odoo.

In our case study, the field staff needs to be able to take photos and use geolocation and orientation to upload a whole range of information to their expertise files which are in Odoo. We will explain the project and the different stages of development.

Note that we do not touch the Odoo source code; we retrieve and send all relevant information to Odoo using its built-in API. This allows the creation of a unique, tailored, and stable solution fully integrated with Odoo.

The aim is to present a slightly different approach to meet some field staff's specific needs that Odoo does not always cover. Adding a mobile application dedicated to field staff makes it possible to offer a broader range of features to suit the customer's needs better while fully taking advantage of Odoo's features.
