Established in 1994 in Canada, Super Asia Foods & Spices is a wholesale distributor of food products and groceries.

Today, the retail giant imports high-quality products from Asia-Pacific and distributes them across Canada and North America through its huge B2B distribution channel.

They faced the challenge of managing over 1000 internal locations and wanted to streamline their warehouse processes and pallet tracking efficiently. Brainvire had been their trusted Odoo ERP partner for years and understood their operations well. We had implemented, managed, and consulted them through their Odoo v13 journey, and now, it was time to utilize the potential of v16.

Challenges and Solutions
Odoo v13 to Odoo v16 Migration:
The Odoo v13 that Super Asia was using had a lot of customizations. It posed limitations and challenges in modifications and enhancements. To minimize the custom development hurdles and achieve operational excellence, we configured the available Odoo v16 out-of-the-box solutions using Odoo.sh cloud Services. We also covered all WMS operations and utilized Odoo Mobile App for Product Scanning and Fulfillment.

Barcode Operations for Warehouse Management & Pallet Tracking:
To simplify warehouse management and pallet tracking, we aligned barcodes on the products, packages, and packaging pallets when they were received in the warehouse. We also enabled location. It reduced manual intervention and picking time, allowing for increased order processing with better time and resource management.

Putaway Strategy for Stock Management:
We optimized the v13 customizations and created a default putaway strategy with the Storage Category. The Inventory automation with a putaway strategy improved the client’s Stock Management cycle time by a few minutes.

Reconfiguring Product UoM for Order Management:
To ease the operations using Odoo’s default features and zero customizations across sales, purchase, and eCommerce orders, we reconfigured product UoM from ‘pack of x unit’ to ‘units.’ In addition, for packages with multiple UoM box packs, we configured them with barcodes.

Storage Category for Large Sales Sales Volume:
With minor customization to manage full capacity through auto fulfillments, we leveraged the new Odoo Storage Category feature. It helped map the storage capacity with locations and the products to be added to aisles.

Fleet Management for Delivery Planning:
For delivery planning and route management, we used the Odoo Fleet Module with configurations in the Fleet Master and the creation of a new app.

Dashboard View for Analysis:
We implemented the new dashboard feature for the client to quickly analyze the various operations during management audits. Adding new parameters and quickly generating reports was also eased.

Integrations:
We also updated the Odoo integration with the previously used PEPPERI mobile app for field sales staff. In addition, we integrated the system with the shipping and payment gateways.
