Driving license

If you are coming from a country outside the European Union, you may drive in Belgium for a maximum of 185 days from the date of your registration. After this period, you must exchange your licence for a Belgian driving licence at the commune.

ℹ️ The procedure takes place in 2 steps:

1. Submit the exchange request

By appointment, which can be scheduled online through your commune’s website.

Your foreign licence will be sent to the Police for authentication.

2. Exchange the licence

Once your licence is authenticated, the commune will inform you that you can proceed with the exchange. From that point, you can order your Belgian licence:

⚠️ Exchanging a driving licence can take several weeks (an estimated timeframe of 2 months), and during that time you would not have a valid licence.

It is therefore possible that you could have a company car without being able to drive it for a while, and it will not be possible to return it to Odoo during that period, as this would affect your minimum gross salary and we would no longer comply with the rules linked to your work permit.
