In this talk, I will present the Owl javascript framework, which is the javascript framework used by Odoo to render a good part of the user interface. Owl is a standalone framework that provides a component system. The following topics will be discussed:

• why did odoo choose to make yet another javascript framework instead of picking a standard existing framework?
• what are the pros and cons of Owl?
• a short overview of some technical aspects of owl: reactivity, concurrency, virtual dom (or rather, "block dom")

Note that this is a technical talk, focused on Owl (the component system), and not on the Odoo javascript framework in general.
