Markus Schneider studied Mathematics and Computer Science in Magdeburg. He joined initOS GmbH as the first engineer in 2011 and realized eCommerce and Odoo projects for different industries. He had been external supervisor for petspremium.de since the first order. After Pets Premium became AlphaPet Ventures in 2016, he joined AlphaPet as CTO and built an internal Odoo dev team. Currently, over 20 people work in AlphaPet IT, including 7 Python engineers. AlphaPet is a German company leading in the premium pet food market.

AlphaPet sells its products in direct online sales to end customers as well as to shops specialized in pet food for reselling. We have a long history of working with Magento as our D2C shop technology. For our needs in the B2B business we decided to build an online store directly with Odoo 14. Why this was the right decision, what we learned, how happy our coworkers are and what our future plans to support our fast growing business with Odoo look like - in this talk I want to share our experience and tell you why Odoo is a good choice for any B2B online shop.

Following are more insights about the talk which are NOT to share as talk description:

The target audience for this talk is non-technical people, internal stakeholders and project managers. The key learnings are that traditional eCommerce solutions try to solve B2B problems on top of a D2C solution. As Odoo's core is an ERP, you have by design: Multi currency, multi warehouse, multi language and so on with a state of the art interface. So we adapted Odoo to have a required login for accessing jobs and a separate product portfolio for different customer groups. We figured out that different pricelist functions and couponing systems work really great.
