During this talk, participants will learn about Free Food Alert, a tool built on the open source Odoo Community Edition (V16). Free Food Alert aims to decentralize the solution to food waste and hunger on university campuses through email alerts and mobile smartphone push notifications. Free Food Alert allows any university community member to send out a notification about free food to all other subscribers at the end of their catered events on campus. By using Odoo open source code as a base framework for Free Food Alert, our team was able to accelerate the development of this tool and roll out to two universities in the United States in less than 1 year: The Johns Hopkins University and The University of Wisconsin at Madison. A live demonstration of the tool will be provided during the talk, including a walkthrough of the data insights available to university administrators that empower them with information about trends in food waste and insecurity on their campuses.
Join us to learn more about how the community edition of Odoo can help our community tackle food waste, hunger, and climate change!
