From its humble beginnings as a local bike shop in Bacolod in 1996, Dan’s (formerly Dan’s Bike Shop) has evolved into a nationwide business in the Philippines’ cycling, powersports, and running space. As Dan’s transitioned from a small retail outlet to a nationwide distributor, their reliance on Excel files became a significant liability. Managing multiple warehouses across retail and distribution channels created a complex web of data that simple spreadsheets could no longer catch.

The primary bottleneck was inventory tracking. Joey Ramirez describes the challenge of not knowing where products were at any given moment. They struggled to answer critical questions:

  • When were items ordered?

  • When would they arrive at the warehouse?

  • Where were they in the journey from the warehouse to the customer?

Without these answers, the business sought after a solution that could manage their operations in one place. This led them to Odoo, a system that offered versatility without overwhelming complexity. The transition was a collaborative effort between Dan’s team, Odoo, and a local partner with a focus on Inventory, Sales, and Accounting apps to streamline their database. For a team comfortable with spreadsheets, Odoo felt familiar. 


"If I weren't managing a large company, I'll be able to do everything myself. Basically, if you're used to Excel, it's a big Excel file. And it's easy to use. 

For me, it's really looking at our costs and our margins. What we see on a per product basis, per category, per segment basis, I'm seeing everything in a snapshot. I'll be able to make quick decisions just going into the system for brands that we have and the future investments also."
