I have downloaded Odoo hotel management module for trunk version from this link : https://www.odoo.com/apps/trunk/hotel/ . I want to install it on the current version of odoo available. Please help me i am new to odoo.

I have tried it to install by copying the uncompressed folder to addons folder and then clicked on upgrade module list. But it generated an error.

I heard the following on the Community mailing list: There is another repository which (as far as I understand the matter) is:

  1. the same as the OCA/vertical_hotel
  2. is ready ported to v8
  3. there is only missing a "pull request" (at least that was the term I remember) to be made from https://github.com/JayVora-SerpentCS/hotelmgmt_v8 to the OCA repository

What I didin't understand was why that had been separeately developed and why no one made the pull request so far (I guess do to lack of urgency for the person who could do that (because he probably is just happy with his own repo))

To me this was no very urgent, so I deciede to wait it out. If I am not mistaken you could either try to make the pull request happen or use the https://github.com/JayVora-SerpentCS/hotelmgmt_v8 repository

I didn't go very into depth with it, so the above is more a hint on where to dig deeper then a confirmed set of instructions. If you gather any news on this maybe you can add them to this post.... hope this helps somewhat

Thanks man. you have given me a good source. I haven't found hotel management there but some other modules compatible with version 8.

One thing more: Can you give me any link having information about how to install modules in version 8.0 ?

On your download site https://www.odoo.com/apps/trunk/hotel/
you have info: "Also available for: 6.1 6.0 5.0"
On this list v 8.0 is not specified. V8 is a new version, and not all the older modules are ready for it.

I would recommend watching this repository:

https://github.com/OCA/vertical-hotel

At this point in time most of the modules are still in the process of being ported to the Odoo 8.0 branch, however work is being done on porting the rest (currently in the __unported directory) and will be finished in the next few months from what I understand.
