Re: About MySQL support

Tbh I rarely if ever have a need for a GUI admin tool, on those occasions I would use pgAdmin although its been at least 2 years since I did.  At most my admin consists of 1 liners like changing owners, creating databases or doing backups so a bit pointless for a GUI.

But in terms of general maintenance, testing, query analysis, schema pictures etc I dropped pgadmin for the builtin Pycharm support.  Autocomplete, scripts, saves input, smart auto joins etc, even autocomplete inside a cr.execute in python with preview of results, is really nice.  About the only thing I miss from pgAdmin is the graphical explain,  but its not like reading that stuff is especially hard.  Team it up with Pycharms ability to watch/filter postgres logs in both debug and run sessions in terms of development and troubleshooting to me it far exceeds pgAdmin in this arena.

Add in something like pg_stat_statements to postgres config and save a few scripts and it even does pretty good performance problem finding, although mostly we use newrelic for that as it gives end to end overview from browser to kernel.

Didn't know there was an equivelant, I'll take a look. Good to know you can tunnel it as well.

Thanks

Phppgadmin? I use to use it years ago. Not as good as pgadmin3 though (you can tunnel it through ssh)

Hi,

Thanks, I do use that one, it's just not a good one in my opinion. Don't get me wrong it's usable, just not he best one I have used in my experience. I do think we are limited on good GUI tools on PostgreSQL.

Cheers

Slightly off subject however, only thing I'd like to see out of PostgreSQL, that all other DBMS I have seen, is a good GUI management tool. MySQL has one, MS SQL has a good one..

Anyone know of a good 3rd one, that handles admin, not just SQL. Got that covered with DBeaver.

I wish you great fun with the way Odoo handles decimal precision on numeric columns.
