Re: Migration tools from another ERP?

Hello Micheal,

The best way to make this in my experience, is:
  1. Create your old structure in your ODOO database using a custom module,
  2. Use an ETL (Talent,Pentaho Data Integration,...) to transfer data from the old system to your tables,
  3. Use the web services (python script) to get the data from the the old table to the ODOO table.

If this not clear enough, i can make a tutorial to explain these steps.

Thanks! It's good to hear that this is being used elsewhere. It leaves me with hope that my migration will be successful.

Hello Michael,

To do migration we can use Talend & other open source tools, but it depends on what kind of data your old system carries.
But instead of using tools we suggest xml-rpc script(python) wich will read your data from the old system, process it and insert in odoo.
xml-rpc is benificial to attend the business process within. Here is the link for Web Service API odoo 8.0 documentation.

Hope it helps.

We currently have a closed source ERP. I'm wondering what tools my fellow community members use to migrate from existing ERP systems? (Talend? Odoo's web Import? Custom modules?)
During our transition phase I hope to replicate from the closed-source ERP to Odoo each night to help with training. The manual web import screens make that almost impossible (too slow, and manual) so I'm hoping for other "tried and true" options.
Does anyone have a list of the order of dependencies for all main apps?
Thanks Michael Watchorn
