You can try this awesome module developed by Juan José Scarafía to deploy and mantain servers, instances and databases (creation, backups, etc) directly from Odoo/OpenERP. You can restart instances, backup databases, schedule automatic updates, restart servers, specify domains and more, all using the backend.

We deploy Odoo (and other things) with Ansible for some months now on 
classical servers, LXC containers, and it's quite effective. I just 
published the role we use here:
