Re: E-Commerce: Brands and Categoriesby
Hi,<blockquote cite="mid:firstname.lastname@example.org" type="cite">
what do you think about the ability to edit the shop categories like the products or other pages with the inline editor. It would be very cool if we can edit each category with the "Insert Blocks" option...

I am agree with Elmar,
From now its very hard to customize the website module.
Maybe because its completely different and its something new.
And there’s no enough example for that.
But the input auto suggest like you did on many2one field back end should be possible to developed it in website.
And the search field in tree view too. It will be great in the ecommerce.
At least you can show the example to do that in documentation.

that is cool already but brands basically need to have their representation with Images and Text. Much like categories *should*.
Example for a category with subcategories:
Basically it would be sufficient if you could drag & drop web building blocks like banners and texts "into" categories. I wasn´t able to do this at least with the default theme.
Example for a brand:
A search autosuggest similar to what you do in the backend would wrap it up nicely. Imagine the example below with common long tail searches (bottom), a segment for brand (from) and the categories (in).
Is anyone aware of someone that has tackled this autosuggest so far?

Hello, it's possible to search on variants (=brand). You can activate variant filters from customize top menu.

You can asign a brand with variants, it will be displayed at the product web page, unluckily, you won't be able to search by that criteria... We are planning to develop that soon, if you find out an alternative please let us know!

what I am missing in odoo ecommerce is the option to assign a brand to a product. It is one of the most important search criteria for online-customers. Users need to able to find and navigate through brands and be able view brand pages that behave ore or less exactly like categories.
Categories need an Image (Banner), a description and a short-description (much like the actual products) with the option to add links within the descriptive text. Below each category description it would ne nice to be able to display the subcategories with their respective image and the short description as an overlay.
