Hello John,

you can indeed migrate Odoo from any operating system to any operating system (where it is running). It's just a matter of replicating the Odoo server and extra addons files with exactly the same revisions (unless you are willing to do some manual operations) and loading a dump in the new database server if you are moving the data base server too. Dropping from Windows for Ubuntu is a wise choice. Nearly no Odoo developer is using Windows, so Odoo on Windows is poorly tested and certainly have less support and development/maintenance resources.
