Re: LIST PROTOCOL PROPOSAL: - questions & answers to list - discussions between inviduals

Sorry but I reply here as I disagree. Someone could find something useful in anything, even something that the one who writes a summary would not think would ever interest anyone. Also, ignoring / archiving / deleting (I never delete any mail, for example) is definitely easier than writing a good sum up and costs nothing.
Obviously, common sense is always necessary so people should know when to keep talking on the mailing list and when to switch to a private conversation channel.

Hi everyone.

Its very interesting to both the comments. "Eating is nice, however knowing what you are eating is even better is eating what you know and understand."

I believe the contents of a conversation is important yes maybe starting a new thread if the original conversation changes might work.

Ray I am not agreed.

the discussion is really what enrich the conversations on line itself, not (ony) the Conclusion only.

In other side:

We don't offered private consultancy product of mailing list and it can become like Microsoft mailing list asking for email privately and staying enrichment between 2 or 3 members because the responsible never sent the conclusion, producing abandoned threads.

Obviously If I will take a thread as a place to expose my deep feelings and so on, I must write privately and then wait the conclusion, but these are the exceptions not the rules.

My 2 cents.

I’ve been noticing that when questions are asked on this list, the entire conversation between individuals is also carried on via the list, and I don’t think this is the best use of our time.

In other mailing lists I’ve used in the past, the ‘question’ is posted to the list, the ‘conversation’ is had between individuals (saving others on the list from deleting every email that isn’t relevant to them) and the person who asked the original question then posts a ‘SUM’ or ‘SUMMARY’ of the answers to the list when the conversation is over.

I’d like to propose these same kind of usage guidelines to this list.

QUESTION: goes to the list email address

CONVERSATION: between individual email addresses – this includes ‘Did you try this?  What do you mean?  I’ve done this, are you interested? I want this too!  You should look here!  Do it this way!’ etc

SUMMARY OF ANSWERS: goes to the list email address

This way we all get the questions and the answers, and get the chance to have conversations about them without involving those who don’t choose to.
