You are right. The link clearly mentions the v6.

Also I noticed the flow of that document is not smooth. It asks you to follow all kind of sudo commands from the start and suddenly asks you to download the package from the odoo/download page and then extract it using tar -xzf. People who manually download from the Odoo page will download the installer and install it from the on screen instructions. 

If it is sudo, it has to be sudo(cli) all the way. 

In general, the navigation of documentation for Odoo is not perfect (yet). I hope Odoo team is working on to improvise it. 

I have always found Odoo helps from the opensource bloggers or Odoo experts but the Odoo site.
