May be hack around a hackable centralized LDAP like OpenLDAP?

The official auth_ldap module just allows authenticating the users against the LDAP, but it doesn't map groups.

Now you have an OCA extension module by fellow Therp BV company that make it possible to sync' groups as well:
You'll probably need to extend that or even the LDAP further, but may be that's a start.

Well just an idea, I'm not a LDAP specialist.

BTW, I also built a multi-instance infrastructure for a very big deployment in Brazil. We are not synchronizing users among the instances. But we sometimes need to share some information between the instances. One way would be to use the event'ed connector by CampToCamp. In our case we are not just synchronizing the information, we in fact persist data shared across the instances. The reason we went multi-Odoo for such a deployment was scalability, it's like if we did up front database sharding by design in our case. So the scalable way we have to share the information is using Apache Solr NoSQL datastore with the solerp connector I built: (it's also based on the connector module). In case you find it useful at some point...

There are cases where you need Multiple databases indeed. But also make sure you understand perfectly it does have a synchronization cost and it is not small (it tends to multiply the project cost).

Let us know how it went.

Hi all,

We have customer, a group of companies, which want to install all database of their companies in one server.

The IT dept is centralized. Every user configuration (create, edit, delete, and access right setting) of all users of all companies should be carried out by one centralized IT administrators (several admins). But these IT admins are not allowed to be one of users in companies database.

So it's a kind of bring the user setting menu out of database so the IT admins can manage user setting without have to enter each of database.

Is it possible? If yes, how we do it?

Thanks for any suggestions.
