Fabien, I think your contextual help approach is good enough for the future form a user prespective! I think you already found a great solution here...
So, reducing what is now called "functional documentation" (actually there is no wikipedia entry about this term) is no harm.
To everyone, I hope you understand very well this approach, and its implications for what is now called functional documentation. Funcional documentation might reasonably die! What we need is a "transparency enabler" a "central point of contact" - from the said perspectives: Customers (CEOs/CTOs), Power Users (onboarding stage) / Consultants, Developers and Designers, the creative fraction!
