I remember now ! it was AGPL + exception, and only valid for Odoo themselves. As third parties were AGPL -no-exception, it ended just in a mess. But I think you are right: There was a possibility to make exceptions to AGPL, under circumstances nobody really understood. Happy I was to have forgotten this brain twister ;-) For sure, it doesn't applied to third parties, in particular when they plagiarised other's modules (medical, hotel...), and the third party was not allowed to reproduce the exception when redistributing. It was a one shot exception. Good thing with memory is that it auto-cleans up.
