In one of our 15 minutes test run...
The actual tests only took 103 seconds.
The remaining 13 minutes and 17 seconds is plain vanilla module and data loading of all kinds with heavy DB writes.
Not cool!

The rationale is obvious: Faster unittests allow for shorter testing cycle, optimally, you want to to TDD (test driven development) and trigger a testing cycle on every save.
What odoo has are unittest + integration tests (horizontal crossed tests including database behavior), thos take more time and it is ok.

But YES it should be cool if they were faster, I have instances that take 1 hour to complete tests.
