Re: POS with local storage on disconnected networksby
We have similar situation in which we can not deploy Odoo POS online due to realiability and quality of internet connection.
So we are studying a solution like this:
1. Have a Odoo server each store which will handle 10-15 POS.
2. Synchronize each Odoo Store server (about 20 stores) to Odoo Head Office (HO) server, every night.
We want to know if above planning is work well. Is anybody in this community has similar experience with this? This is POS for a Dept Stores.
Odoo - open source ERP & CRM
I've been busy, and so I still have to think it over some more, but off the top of my head: the server would pass a SALT when the user logs in, which in turn would be used to generate the random "ticket number" (or nonce) ―tricky, maybe, but certainly doable. (Not sure how Odoo's producing session_id's, but maybe it could be hashed with a timestamp and used instead...) Now, the ticket numbers might be god-awfully long, but if it could be hidden behind a barcode on the customers copy.... :-) As far as the conversor, I'm wondering if a web worker couldn't just read it back through when the connection is restored.
In closing, I'll have to think about it some more, but what I do know is that IF sql.js works as advertised, it would be game changer.

It sounds promising. But is very alpha AND, remember when you work with localstorage we need to create the algorithm twice server-client side at leas you use node.js or some python-js conversor (which is out of scope now I think). It is not just a matter of lib, but yes this can solve partially the problem and sound promising.--
