I think here already 2 topics are mixed.
1) Distributing between different G/L accounts. Related to pure Bookkeeping procedure.
2) Sharing and distribution between different Analytic Accounts. It is more for analytics purposes and related to Cost Centers paradigm. As G/L account can be the same in this case.

Goals of above points are different. So what is goal of current discussion?

My goal is  #1, The distribution between different GL accounts.

I also have a need for analytic account to be used as my cost centers. I am exploring this option seperately.

My goal for this email was to gain an understanding as to the best / most efficient  way to distribute transaction to multiple GL accounts

Oleg,

in countries where the chart of account is not regulated, many companies (SMEs) will use only one chart of account for both usages: financial reporting and management accounting (aka analytical accounting).

For larger companies, analytical accounting is the way to go. But the original message seems to indicate that the financial accounts are used for managing department cost as well

IMHO this is a (or even THE) classic use case for analytical accounting.
