mmmhhh... we had to do something like that and ended up creating function fields for the customers, being each field a segmentation strategy (for instance, the segment_frequency segment being the column that holds how frequently the customer buys).

Anyway... before implementing this in Odoo I would do it manually and show the results to the client. Since most of the times the client changes his/her mind as soon as they see the results and change the segmentation strategy over and over... It is a very time-intensive task, keep that in mind. 

Also another problem you will have is historical data... it is anything but good. So you might need to clean the data before running your segmentation algorithms.

What I'm trying to do is to send email to customers that purchased product X 4 years ago. In this case it's a training that they need to take every 5 years.

I believe lead automation is the way to go, but the filter configuration is a bit daunting to me at first look... If I need to write something custom for this I will, but I was hoping not to.
