Hello.

Situation is simple.

Enterprise edition (modules privative) are privative ones, that's very clear, If you pay (yearly), you can use them if not, you need remove them from your database. (It can be better if you only pay once and an extra service for migration but Odoo do not want to sell services, they need a clear way of get revenue).

Imagine you use windows and windows hypothetically was a yearly subscription version, and then you install 100 programs on your machine, but you want stop paying and move to Linux, then simply backup your files and restore them on Linux, MS do not have any responsibility on such job and on compatibility stuff.

Obviously on this case it is hugely different in technical terms regarding Odoo, but from a practical PoV is the same, Pay -> Right to use, Do not pay - > You are alone.

I think it is the same with Community.

PAy an Expert -> You have the right to complain with somebody, Do not PAy -> You are alone.

And about features on community also.

Pay a programmer -> You can evolve and receive support, IF you fire the programmer -> You need to fix stuff and evolve yourself.

Regards.
