Yed but not the only reason, the concurrency errors of database were our first and big problem, you will have to check them and try to fox. Also +1 for Housseine suggestion, if an OCA module already exist now it should help you a lot.

Actually we have been facing same kind of problem, after all we found a lot of concurrency errors, which didn't succeed to process properly the queries after all the possible number of tries. And we had to strengthen the wireless conection.

We're facing a strange issue with odoo point of sale as after processing some sales, some orders are missed when we check the pos order in the back-end.
