Re: Good Odoo Literature you can recommend in English, Chinese, German, etc.by
Yeah that is good - written by a geographer as they always keep the overview :-) Like this one - but that's it!
Unfortunately only valid until Version 8 as major changes happened in Accounting in Version 9 and the style is a geographer style with lots of illustration images he uses as "maps"
The book does not give you any clear understanding of how Odoo works, it's poorly organized and has an annoying 'childish' feel. The author seems to think that he could make up for has lack of explanations by including screenshots of nearly every page in Odoo (from the modules he covers) but even that fails since you only have a vague idea of why you should be entering information on any particular screen.
I was hoping for a book that could explain the concepts of Odoo in addition to how to use it but this book fails miserably on both fronts. Not recommended.
A Geographer would judge differently as he would understand what he wants to say - just my 2 cents ;-) - but only a few people can read maps properly too.
"The book is only relevant up to V8, as V9 will make some major changes in terms of usa based accounting. I call this a negative as i font believe there will be an updated version for 9, but if there was... Id buy it."
and it is focussing on US Accounting!
and the major problem gets named also in a review
"Changed my review. After owning the book for a few months, and trying to get an SaaS instance of Odoo to run my business for the past 18 months, I have given up. Odoo Support is very expensive waste of money. Ursa wanted prepayment just to talk."
I think they are all valid after seeing the book - unfortunately
In't there any Spanish, German or French literature?
German - Deutsche Odoo Buecher
Has somebody used that book here and can recommend it?
https://leanpub.com/odoo-kochbuch - Das Odoo Kochbuch
Nützliche Rezeptsammlung für die Arbeit mit dem Open Source ERP System
Achtung Buecher auf Amazone sind sehr ueberteuert!
Attention books on Amazon are overpriced
Odoo Development Essentials by Reis, Daniel (2015) Paperback Taschenbuch – 1709
At Packt Publish you can get it for about 23 Dollar and in the library even much much cheaper i.e. year account was until Monday only 65 Dollar which includes one free Book per month and you ahve access to about 3000 Books ( some already outdated)
Concerning the "Working with Odoo Book" I agree with the Comments - It is not even worth 3$ as it only summarises Things you already know when looking carefully to the Odoo.com site and documentation - and their documentation is much much better and much better to understand.
similar but much better us this here http://www.odoo-wiki.com ( in German )
The Amazon search is really a devastating result for Odoo - as it brings up more Digital Music stuff called ODOO than anything else - some of it sounds better than the books about Odoo at Amazon ;-)
Are they singing about Odoo? - they have been to South America I guess. - or perhaps only to the Amazon Store. Perhaps they tried Odoo before - not sure but really could be!
Yeah it is perhaps black magic
I hope it is not like Black Sabath is describing it: http://lyrics.wikia.com/wiki/Black_Sabbath:Voodoo
The No Vodoo song lyrics are here by the way!
and the video:
seems like a lonely Odoo developer who did not find what he was looking for at the Amazon shop and resigned finally even he loved Odoo so much -
well we had a talk about No Woodoo with Odoo in 2014 http://www.elearningap.com/eLAP2014/Proceedings/01_52_Andreas.pdf
and are still working to bring in major changes into the educational system.
We are looking forward to hear more about good Odoo resources - Books/Videos/Presentations etc. you are using (in any language) to educate yourself and your staff!
If there are more books out there in in what language however we would be very interested to hear about it.
